Right clinic, right treatment, right cost, and right dentist is all a patient wants. It is mandatory to visit a dental clinic at least twice a year to maintain the oral hygiene. Selecting the right dentist is the priority of every patient to choose. Friends, family, friends, local contact, internet are the first chooser option to know the right clinic.
Everybody knows that one should get a dental checkup every 6 months. This is the first thing that a dentist informs you when you visit one. But what do you do if you do not know a dentist in your vicinity. Lets assume that you have moved to a new area and are in need of a dentist, How will you choose your dentist then? Most people in this scenario rely on three primary sources: 1. Ask Friends & Family 2. Search the Internet 3. Walk-in into the closest dental clinic in you area This blog is targeted at helping you make a good decision at a time like the above when you are new to an area and you are need of a dentist and you are looking for a dental clinic.

1. Ask Friends & Family:

Friends and family is a good way of finding through their references a good dental clinic in the are but you must ask specific information from their past experience to make a good judgement of choosing the dentist. Ask the referrer which treatments has he/she got from the dentist. If it is a very elementary dental treatment like a scaling or a filling then you need to probe more because the referrer in this case may not have a sufficient experience to judge the quality of treatment and skill of the dentist. Also, ask the person when was the last time he/she visited the dentist and the approximate prices of the dental treatments at the dental clinic. This will ensure that you get no surprises.

2. Search the Internet:

With the growth in a large number of medical service aggregators like Practo, Lybrate and others, it is very easy to search for doctors on the internet. However, please remember that each of the aggregator has a business which is dependent on the leads that they generate for the doctor or medical service provider. Hence, while they will provide all the options around the location, it may not be a good idea to rely on the ratings or the reviews on these sites/app. If you want to rely on user reviews to make a judgement on the skill and service of a dentist, the best option is google reviews. Google reviews are mostly genuine and it is very difficult to cheat google to post fake reviews. Google has extremely complex algorithms that catch fake reviews and hence the reviews and ratings of users on google reviews is mostly genuine and will help you choose a good dentist.

3. Walk-in into the closest dental clinic in you area:

Walk-in into the closest dental clinic near you is also a good option. However, you must start from an elementary treatment like a cleaning or a filling and experience the dental clinics services and sterilisation before committing a more complex procedure like a root canal, prosthetic/crown or even surgeries, implants and braces.

“The most important factor that one must consider while choosing a dental clinic is the sterilization and hygiene. A lapse here could cause very serious cross infections which could be as serious as getting infected with Hepatitis” – Dr. Manan Dhulia.
